For Specifiers
FlatClad provides architects and designers with precision-engineered solutions to common architectural finishing challenges.
The Problem
Modern architectural claddings (battens, grooved panels, weatherboards) create non-planar surfaces. Standard electrical hardware is designed for flat surfaces, leading to unstable mounting, visible gaps, and non-compliant installations.
The Solution
FlatClad spacers are parameterized mechanical levelling blocks. They provide a 1:1 verified fit between the specific cladding profile and the electrical device footprint, resulting in a flush, stable, and intentional finish.
Specifying FlatClad
To ensure the correct solution is implemented on-site, use our immutable Product Code system. Each combination of cladding and device generates a unique reference code.

Compliance & Safety
FlatClad spacers are mechanical components only. They do not provide BAL/fire ratings, IP ratings, or gaskets. Electrical safety and compliant mounting remain the responsibility of the licensed installer.
Specifier FAQs
What materials are the spacers made from?
Spacers are produced using precision additive manufacturing in PLA or UV-stable ASA polymer, depending on application requirements. Material selection affects chemical compatibility and UV performance—refer to our Safety page for detailed guidance.
Are FlatClad spacers electrical equipment?
No. FlatClad spacers are mechanical levelling components only. They do not provide any electrical function, IP rating, BAL/fire rating, or weather seal. All electrical safety and compliance remains the responsibility of the licensed installer.
Can I use spacers near a flue or heat source?
No. Under AS2918, non-combustible materials are required near flues and heat sources. PLA and ASA polymers do not meet non-combustible requirements. Consult the relevant standards and a qualified installer for these applications.
What is a product code?
Each combination of cladding profile and device generates an immutable product code (e.g., FC-PIN150-ICO). This code uniquely identifies the spacer geometry and can be used in architectural specifications to ensure the correct product is supplied.
How long does delivery take?
Standard orders ship within 2-3 weeks as spacers are produced to order. Shipping is free Australia-wide on orders over $100. For bulk or project quantities, contact us for custom scheduling.
Can I 3D print my own spacers?
Yes. We provide STL and SCAD source files for verified combinations. However, print quality, material selection, and dimensional accuracy affect fit and performance. Production through FlatClad ensures verified tolerances of ±0.2mm.
What if my cladding profile is not listed?
Contact us with your cladding details (brand, product name, profile measurements or a photo). We can generate custom spacer geometry for unlisted profiles, subject to minimum order requirements.
